| Witmer clinic honors MP killed in Baghdad
The loose gravel crunches under my feet as I walk across the life support area LSA to the Witmer clinic, a wood-framed building stretched out under the moonlit night. The early April desert air is cool and the new full moon bright. It is another night of call waiting for me. The Witmer clinic building was constructed late during my last rotation. It has served as a medical clinic for two years providing health care services to Camp Liberty which houses a number of infantry, engineers and military police as well as civilian contractors. .
UK-born student 'fooled' gunman
A British-born student shot three times by US campus killer Cho Seung-Hui has described how he played dead to fool the gunman and then heard the mass killer shoot himself. Colin Lynam Goddard - whose father is British - was the last victim targeted in Monday's Virginia Tech rampage that left 33 dead. International studies student Mr Goddard gave his account to the Oprah Winfrey TV show, where he said he desperately tried to avoid eye contact with South Korean Cho as he lay on the floor of his French class. Incredibly, all three of the gunman's shots - in two separate bursts of fire - missed vital organs. Mr Goddard has now undergone surgery to bullet wounds in his leg, shoulder and buttock. As the 21-year-old student lay wounded, he heard Cho turn a gun on himself. Students initially dismissed the sound of gunfire as being building noise but Mr Goddard dialled 911 for police when his teacher saw Cho shooting in the hall.
NIAGARA FALLS: Courthouse crumbles
Those who visit and work there every day have growing concerns that the home of the city's cops and courts may be named for safety, but is anything but safe."When I walk in every day, I wonder how much longer is it going to stay up," said Carolyn Henry, a legal assistant in the Niagara County Public Defender's Office. "There are so many problems here; you wonder how long (the building) will stand."Henry's concerns are no exaggeration. In the main lobby on the building's second floor, duct tape holds a large window together. With crime scene tape in front of it, you might think a body bounced off the glass. In reality, the shaking and settling of the building caused the window to crack."There is no doubt in my mind that this building is an accident waiting to happen," said Chief City Court Clerk Martha Farbo-Lincoln.

Study: One donor cornea may treat 3 people
NEW DELHI, April 10 (UPI) -- An Indian medical school study has determined one donor cornea can be divided and transplanted into multiple patients with eye disease or eye damage. Recent advances have allowed ophthalmologic surgeons to move from transplanting the entire cornea in every patient to more focused operations that involve removing and replacing only the diseased or damaged portion of the cornea. Such surgical techniques provide an opportunity to make use of a single donor cornea in more than one patient. In the study, Rasik Vajpayee -- then of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and now at the University of Melbourne -- used a cornea from a man who died of cardiac arrest for transplants in three patients. The corneal tissue was divided into three parts, each part was then transplanted into different patients.
